Start researching a trip for New York City and you’ll be inundated with different options and itineraries. There’s so much to do in New York that any short break won’t seem long enough, yet it remains a popular long weekend destination because there is so much that you can fit into a short space of time. We had three nights in New York, and with it being our first visit to the city there was a lot that we wanted to see and do. However, we also didn’t want the entire trip to feel rushed so we chose a few key things we wanted to fit in (I’ll share my first timer’s guide to New York shortly) and then decided to take everything else as it came. One of the best things about visiting somewhere that is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire is that there are plenty of natural wonders to marvel at and geothermal activity to get excited about. One area where you can experience the benefits yourself is at Hot Water Beach which is based on the Coromandel Peninsula and is included in Lonely Planet’s book of the world’s best beaches.
