Review: Wake the Tiger, Bristol
Wake the Tiger opened in Bristol in the summer of 2022 with a lot of cryptic marketing. Billing itself as an amazement park, it wasn’t really too clear what to expect from a trip to see it. We eventually booked tickets for the beginning of January by which point a few people we knew had been and reported back that the experience was worth it. Part immersive art exhibition, part theatre, part playground, it’s quite difficult to describe so I can see why they decided on the term ‘amazement park’. View Post

The SS Great Britain and Being Brunel
The SS Great Britain was one of the attractions that I was taken to see the first time I visited Bristol, five years ago. I remember really enjoying going around the ship and seeing all the different areas with added sounds and smells which brought the ship to life. I have to admit that getting to dress up was also a fun activity and added to the immersive experience. Although I had a great time, having been once I hadn’t returned as there are so many other things in Bristol that I am yet to see and do. However, recently the opportunity came up to visit the new Being Brunel museum on its opening weekend which seemed like the perfect time to reacquaint myself with the ship. View Post

There are certain restaurants that everyone seems to have heard of, regarding of whether or not you ever have any intention of going there. For me, The Ivy is one of those places. I’ve never been to the famous London restaurant and yet the name evokes images of classic glamour, sophistication and very expensive food. What I hadn’t realised was that The Ivy Collection brings The Ivy experience to a selection of brasseries and cafes around the UK – or I hadn’t until I went to The Ivy Clifton Brasserie. Initially I was put off going by assumptions I made about the price and atmosphere but having been once I have no doubt I will return, either to the Clifton Brasserie or to one of the others in the collection.
