Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway line is a heritage railway line which runs old diesel and steam engines. I’m not a train enthusiast, but the route sounded interesting, was easily accessible from Bradford (trains run regularly to Keighley direct from Bradford Forster Square) and included a stop at Haworth, somewhere I had visited before but was keen to return. Also, there’s just something pretty exciting about steam engines! As it was, the day out became one of the highlights of our long weekend in Bradford. View Post

Review: The Railway Children, York Theatre Royal

Last year, I went to York Theatre Royal’s summer show (Wind in the Willows) and I was not disappointed. A family friendly show which was both funny and interactive, it made you come out feeling good. This year, the theatre is undergoing refurbishment and as a result The Railway Children is being shown in the new purpose built Signal Box Theatre at the National Railway Museum. There really is no better way to see it and from arrival you feel immersed in the story having to walk past a range of trains to reach the theatre area. View Post
