It’s over a year since I left New Zealand and I have no idea where the time has gone. In some respects it feels like only yesterday that we were backpacking around the two islands and seeing some incredible sights, but it also feels like a lifetime ago. There’s still one very special story from my time in New Zealand that I haven’t shared yet, and so here it is just over one year on.

It was coming to the close of an incredible day in Bath. Bath is a beautiful city so I had been thrilled to spend some time there, excited about my Christmas present of a trip to the Thermae Bath Spa (more on this to come…) and looking forward to our meal out before returning to Bristol. However, I wasn’t quite ready for it to come to an end. Lucky for me, James had foreseen this and had booked us into a hotel as a surprise. I had no idea until we actually arrived at the hotel – I don’t know how he and his family had managed to keep it a secret!
