New York: A Three Day Itinerary for New York City

Start researching a trip for New York City and you’ll be inundated with different options and itineraries. There’s so much to do in New York that any short break won’t seem long enough, yet it remains a popular long weekend destination because there is so much that you can fit into a short space of time. We had three nights in New York, and with it being our first visit to the city there was a lot that we wanted to see and do. However, we also didn’t want the entire trip to feel rushed so we chose a few key things we wanted to fit in (I’ll share my first timer’s guide to New York shortly) and then decided to take everything else as it came. I really enjoyed what we did, and thought it was a good way to see different parts of the city so I’m sharing…

World Book Day: My favourite children’s books

World Book Day comes around every year and as an adult it appears to have very little importance. Other than my colleagues who have spent the week trying to find suitably creative costumes for their children to wear to school that day, for many adults World Book Day comes and goes without any significance. I’ve written before about why I think that should change. Christmas Markets: How to plan the perfect winter break

Christmas markets have fast become my favourite way to prepare for Christmas. The food, the stalls, the decorations, the gifts… there’s nothing quite like a Christmas market to put me in the mood for 25 December. For the past few years I have tried my hardest to go to one (last year I even went to one in Brisbane!) as I know it helps break up that long slog between the summer and a break at Christmas. A Christmas market can be a really good excuse to explore somewhere new and it’s also a really good way to get unique gifts for your family and friends.

Review: Dishoom, London

When I’m visiting somewhere I love stumbling across new places that I’d never have found otherwise. It’s a great way to explore and makes everything feel a little more spontaneous. However, if I’ve heard good things about somewhere then I’m not going to be one to turn down an opportunity to go. After all, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush right?! When I was last in London my friends suggested heading to Dishoom for dinner and I just couldn’t resist it, despite the fact I knew it was going to be very busy without a recommendation. I’d only attempted to go once before and had been put off by the queue then, so decided that this time I would wait it out.
