Places you should visit in England

When I was a child I couldn’t understand why people came on holiday to England, or why you would stay in England if you could go abroad. I was lucky to go on quite a few foreign holidays and I loved them. It was great getting to see new places and (usually) some warmer weather. However as I’ve gotten older I’ve appreciated England more and more. There are places I love to visit and even more that I want to visit. Last year in particular I realised how much the country had to offer as I saw a lot more of it, including places that would never have been at the top of my bucket list. A short stay at Leaplish Waterside Park, Kielder

The benefit of going somewhere off season is that you can usually get a lot more for your money, or afford somewhere that you wouldn’t usually be able to. James and I had wanted to go to Kielder Observatory for a while and knew that this would involve an overnight stay. However, we discovered that lodges are much cheaper off season than they usually are so we decided to stay for a few days which meant that we could enjoy a long weekend in the area. View Post

Our trip to Kielder came at exactly the right time, and was the perfect place to recharge my batteries. View Post

A Night of Stars at Kielder Observatory

One of the benefits of living in the country is looking up and being able to see the stars at night. Despite the fact that I can see much more than I would ever be able to see living in a city, I can still tell the difference when I go somewhere which is even more remote. James loves star-gazing, so for his birthday it seemed like a fantastic opportunity to go to the Kielder Observatory which is situated within a dark skies area. View Post

A Day Trip to Wallington Hall

It’s incredible how there are some places you can visit over and over again as a child, but return to several years later and have virtually no recollection of the place. This happened to me recently on a day trip to Wallington Hall. Wallington was somewhere I visited multiple times as a child and whilst there were some things I could remember perfectly (such as the dolls’ houses room), there were other things that felt completely new.
