One night in Oxford

Oxford is another UK city that until recently I had heard a lot about but hadn’t really ever seen. My only previous visit to Oxford had been for a university open day, so whilst I saw the historic colleges and a lot of the university buildings, I didn’t really see much else and couldn’t enjoy it at my own pace (having a mad schedule of talks and tours to get to). Fortunately the opportunity to visit came up again recently as Oxford became a useful halfway point to visit a friend. View Post

Review: Nepalese food at Yak Yeti Yak, Bath

When you’ve lived somewhere for several years, and have fallen in love with the city and the experiences you had there, it is very hard to let go. This is why I still spend an awful lot of time thinking about York, reminiscing with other people about York, and wondering when I can next go and visit York. Whilst I was staying with James over New Year, we started discussing the range of great restaurants in York, including The Yak and Yeti which had been one of our favourites. I haven’t seen a Nepalese restaurant since. However, when I was researching somewhere to eat in Bath after our trip to the Thermae Bath Spa, I stumbled across Yak Yeti Yak and there was suddenly no question about where we would be going. No.15 Great Pulteney, Bath

It was coming to the close of an incredible day in Bath. Bath is a beautiful city so I had been thrilled to spend some time there, excited about my Christmas present of a trip to the Thermae Bath Spa (more on this to come…) and looking forward to our meal out before returning to Bristol. However, I wasn’t quite ready for it to come to an end. Lucky for me, James had foreseen this and had booked us into a hotel as a surprise. I had no idea until we actually arrived at the hotel – I don’t know how he and his family had managed to keep it a secret! View Post
