A few things I’d like to get out of 2024

Every year I try and write a short overview of my hopes and aims for the year ahead, to accompany my review of the year. I’ll be honest, the older I get the more difficult I find these to write. Partly it’s because I’m actually pretty satisfied with my life overall, which I’m well aware is a great position to be in. But it’s also because the things I’d really like now seem quite big and whilst I can do a lot to move towards those aims, whether they happen or not will ultimately be out of my control.

A few things I’d like to get out of 2023

In addition to my review of the year, it’s time for my short round-up of hopes and aims for the year ahead. 2023 feels like it’s going to be a year full of potential – possibly because it’s the first year in a few where we’ve got a feeling of certainty about the plans we’ve made, and as such actually have a few things lined up. But it’s also a year where we feel on the cusp of a few different life plans, and we might see ourselves move a step further forward with some of them.

A few things I’d like to get out of 2022

In addition to my review of the year, it’s time for my short round-up of hopes and aims for the year ahead. I went into 2021 with my yes wide open and pretty realistic expectations about what was going to happen in the year ahead. 2022 I’m finding a little more difficult. We actually have a surprising number of things in the diary and even though we’ve got used to qualifying everything with ‘well it depends on restrictions’, I’m hopeful that most of them will go ahead. We haven’t had to cancel anything (yet) which was an improvement on this time last year looking into 2021.

New Year on the Isle of Bute

I am very lucky to have a friend who has a cottage on the Isle of Bute. In fact, it’s the highest cottage on the island which means that when it’s clear you can see some fabulous views. My friends had been encouraging James and I to visit for a while and at New Year we decided it was the perfect time. The island that had cast my friends under its spell did the same to us, and I definitely think we’ll be back again some day.
