Hong Kong Island

We weren’t staying on Hong Kong Island but knew it would be one of the places that we wanted to visit, mainly to go up the Victoria Peak. Taking a short break from our use of the MTR we crossed Victoria Harbour on the Star Ferry which was less than ten minutes journey time but a really nice way to see both sides of the harbour. Upfest

I’ve never really been a big fan of graffiti. Admittedly, most of the graffiti I’ve seen hasn’t been particularly artistic, more like profanities scrawled across the side of buildings or railway tracks. However, due to this fact I never really ‘got’ the concept of street art. Surely the phrase was just trying to make graffiti acceptable? However that was all before I first visited Bristol. As the home of Banksy, Bristol prides itself on its street art, and not just the work that Banksy has produced. It was for this very reason that I found myself going along to Upfest earlier this summer. View Post

Bristol Harbour Festival

If you are going to come to Bristol, then it appears that the summer is the time to do it. There appears to be a different festival every weekend, celebrating everything from barbecues to street art. Which ones are most worth going to seems to vary depending on who you ask, but the two biggest seem to be the Balloon Fiesta and Bristol Harbour Festival. I’ve been to the Balloon Fiesta a couple of times before (and intend to go again this year) but I had never been to the Harbour Festival before. Although the forecast looked terrible, we decided to brave the weather and I’m really glad we did. View Post

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta 2016

I’m very excited about today’s blog post! Partly, because I am (belatedly) getting to write about a wonderful weekend, but also because this is my first blogging collaboration! All illustrations in this post have been provided by a good friend of mine who blogs at Drakes Doodles and we’re hoping this could be the start of more combined posts… so please let us know what you think! Bristol Balloon Fiesta

Thursdays on social media are all about throwbacks – and with the 37th Bristol International Balloon Fiesta starting today, I can think of no better time to reminisce… My first experience of the balloon fiesta was last year, when I had no idea what to expect and to be perfectly honest couldn’t really see how hot air balloons would keep me entertained for that long. However, I had a great time and am really disappointed I won’t be there again this year! View Post
