Maori Culture and Geothermal activity in Rotorua

Rotorua is apparently the tourist capital of the North Island, so we weren’t at all surprised that there was so much to do and see here. We stayed in Rotorua for four nights in total and as a result managed to fit in quite a lot so get comfortable and prepare for a lengthier post!

Resident’s Weekend 2016

I know I’ve mentioned being a tourist in your own city before, but there really is no better time to do it in York than as part of Resident’s Weekend, although you do have to be prepared to put up with the queues! Anyone with a valid York Card or York Student Card can gain free entry to a large range of sites, or can get discounts from a range of shops and restaurants.

Review: The Railway Children, York Theatre Royal

Last year, I went to York Theatre Royal’s summer show (Wind in the Willows) and I was not disappointed. A family friendly show which was both funny and interactive, it made you come out feeling good. This year, the theatre is undergoing refurbishment and as a result The Railway Children is being shown in the new purpose built Signal Box Theatre at the National Railway Museum. There really is no better way to see it and from arrival you feel immersed in the story having to walk past a range of trains to reach the theatre area.
