A Review of the Year and Lessons learned in 2022

Well somehow another year has come and gone, and 2022 certainly seemed to fly by! To say we started the year in fear of the rise of another COVID strain, and we’ve ended it with COVID barely being mentioned over the festive period feels like a real turnaround. 2022 hasn’t been without it’s challenges, but it’s also a year I’ll remember for a very long time due to some of the great experiences we’ve had. Some made all the sweeter for having to wait so long for them. View Post

Happy 4th Birthday

I’ve been writing my blog now for four years exactly, and it has slowly become more a part of me at each step of the way. Rather like a journal, it allows me to look back over some of my favourite places and memories from that time, and know that they are stored somewhere I can return to. It has allowed me to keep friends and family up to date with what I’ve been doing if I’ve been away travelling, or just because we don’t see each other as much. It has prompted opportunities for discussion and helped me find a space to continue writing and improving my photography. View Post

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Three years ago today I started blogging and I say it every year but so much has happened in the time since. My blog started as a personal post-dissertation project. I was so shy about having created it that I didn’t actually share it with anyone until I’d already been writing for a year. Since then, my audience has grown and I continue to get as much, if not more enjoyment, from writing my blog than when I first started out. I like writing these birthday posts as an opportunity to reflect on what has happened since I graduated and looking at how my blog has changed. Being Buttons is still a very small corner of the internet, but I love the opportunity it has given me to write about the things I enjoy and share them with other people. View Post

Blogging Goals for 2018

I first started my blog as a project to keep me occupied once I finished my dissertation. I had no idea what post-university life was going to hold, but knew that I wanted a way to continue and improve my writing. Having started reading blogs earlier that year, it seemed like blogging was a good way to go about it. I wasn’t expecting to keep it up for two months, let alone be sitting here two and a half years later still writing, but I’m really pleased I did as not only has it made sure that I continue writing, I also look at the world in a different way. It’s not entirely down to blogging, but I’ve found myself more keen to do and try different things. I question things and reflect on them more. I read more blogs and as such have opened myself up to more knowledge,… View Post

Happy Birthday – 2 years old!

I’ve now been blogging for two years, which is scary in many ways as it means that it is two years since I handed in my dissertation and finished my degree! However, in those two years I have managed to fit in an awful lot more than I thought I would. I’ve been doing plenty of travelling, working hard and earning money, bought a car, completed multiple online courses to help me learn more about what I’m interested in and much more besides.
