Completing my first 10K

I’ve never been a runner. I remember dreading cross-country at school, or in fact anything longer than a hundred metre sprint, and not understanding why anyone would choose to do it for fun. I’ve kept and nurtured that misunderstanding of running over the years, unable to understand why a housemate took up running while going through a stressful period, or why another friend had decided to start running marathons. I didn’t like it, I couldn’t do it, and yet somehow I managed to complete the Great Bristol 10K at the start of the month. How did I get there and will I do it again? View Post

Waitomo

Waitomo is only a small village but is a huge tourist attraction due to the extensive caves which are also home to glowworms. As we had the time we decided to spend two nights here but we got the impression that most people only spend one night or come for a day trip. View Post

A little slice of paradise

When you are travelling around to lots of different places sometimes you need somewhere to just relax for a couple of days, and what better place to relax than in a beautiful location with friends?! We spent a week in a remote spot located about 45 minutes from Whangarei staying in an old farmhouse with some of James’s very accommodating family friends. View Post
