The #Take12Trips Challenge

I first came across the #take12trips challenge a couple of years ago and thought it sounded like a great concept. Taking 12 trips in 12 months? Yes please! If you love travelling it’s great, but as a student my immediate concern was funding it. It’s all well and good when you are earning a lot, or if someone is paying you to take those trips, but otherwise it just isn’t possible. Or so I thought…

Lessons learned from 2016

Another year is almost over and it’s time to look ahead to 2017. There are some parts of 2016 which have shocked and upset a lot of people and are best left in 2016, but although it has been a year of highs and lows, overall I’ve had a pretty good year. At the start of the year I wrote a list of what I wanted to get out of the year and I did quite well. I managed to visit the places that I had planned to (and a few more!). I took a blogging course, proved to myself that I could Foxtrot and got a permanent job. I started the year brushing up my French and trying to learn German via Duolingo, but unfortunately didn’t keep it going throughout the whole year… Last year I had a brief reflection on what I had learned in 2015, so now it is time…

New Year in London

I’ve spent New Year in a few different places – at parties, working behind a bar (not fun!), tucked up in bed, and in Edinburgh, but I think one of my best new year’s to date was ending 2015 and starting 2016 in London. I went with a group of friends, which of course was partly what made the whole experience, but I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has considered it as an option.

… and a few things I’m hoping to get out of 2016!

Happy New Year! We’ve now reached 2016 and many people will be turning their thoughts to New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve actually already written a blog on New Year’s Resolutions as part of my current job, and it got me thinking about what I want to get of 2016, and where I’d like to see myself in a year’s time. Some of these things aren’t things I have full control over, but are things I want to see happen. I won’t be a failure if I don’t get there, but they are things I’d like to achieve. Rather than resolutions, perhaps these are goals. Either way, here they are. What do you want to get out of this year?

A few things I learned in 2015…

Another year is almost over and it’s time to look ahead to 2016. New resolutions will no doubt be made and broken, but hopefully it will be another exciting year. 2015 has been a bit of a whirlwind (where has the time gone?!) but I’ve done quite a lot. Very pleased I’ve managed to do more travelling – something I’m hoping to keep up in 2016. I started a blog, and have kept it up (although admittedly there was a period of silence!) – hopefully I will keep it going this next year, or if not, start something new. I graduated and have my first ‘grown-up’ job. I still sometimes wonder when I stopped being a student, and what I’m doing in this strange and unfamiliar adult world, but it’s getting easier. This time last year I read a friend’s post about what she learned over the past year. It…
