The Clifton Sausage

The Clifton Sausage is somewhere that I’ve passed on multiple occasions, and had always liked the look of it. If you’re a fan of classic pub grub, but fancy going somewhere slightly more upmarket then it’s the perfect place to go for a meal out. It certainly deserves the good reviews it gets! View Post

The SS Great Britain and Being Brunel

The SS Great Britain was one of the attractions that I was taken to see the first time I visited Bristol, five years ago. I remember really enjoying going around the ship and seeing all the different areas with added sounds and smells which brought the ship to life. I have to admit that getting to dress up was also a fun activity and added to the immersive experience. Although I had a great time, having been once I hadn’t returned as there are so many other things in Bristol that I am yet to see and do. However, recently the opportunity came up to visit the new Being Brunel museum on its opening weekend which seemed like the perfect time to reacquaint myself with the ship. View Post

Places you should visit in England

When I was a child I couldn’t understand why people came on holiday to England, or why you would stay in England if you could go abroad. I was lucky to go on quite a few foreign holidays and I loved them. It was great getting to see new places and (usually) some warmer weather. Last year in particular I realised how much the country had to offer as I saw a lot more of it, including places that would never have been at the top of my bucket list. This week is English Tourism Week so it seems like a good opportunity to share some of the places that I think you should visit in England whether you live in the UK or… View Post

Story Slam

Since I first arrived in Bristol I had heard a lot about Story Slam, largely through my colleagues who are involved with it. I was intrigued and keen to go along since I first heard about it, but this month is the first time that I’ve been free to go. As I’d been intrigued by the concept, I was keen to see it working in practice. View Post

Koh Thai Tapas, Bristol

When looking for somewhere to eat in Bristol I am spoiled for choice. There are a mixture of independent restaurants and chains, but even those belonging to chains I am often unfamiliar with as they haven’t made it to Cumbria or York. As a result, I’ve been basing my choices on people’s recommendations (if you have any please do send them my way). I had heard several things about Koh Thai Tapas and it was close to a few bars that our group wanted to go to so it seemed like a good decision. View Post
