The Clifton Sausage

The Clifton Sausage is somewhere that I’ve passed on multiple occasions, and had always liked the look of it. If you’re a fan of classic pub grub, but fancy going somewhere slightly more upmarket then it’s the perfect place to go for a meal out. It certainly deserves the good reviews it gets!

Chocolate Workshop at The Chocolate Tart

I’m very happy to admit that I am a chocoholic. There is no better treat than chocolate and I will quite happily devour a bag of Cadbury’s giant chocolate buttons or have a small piece of a very dark, good quality chocolate. I’m not a connoisseur and I don’t discriminate (except against white chocolate because truth be told, it isn’t chocolate). When I received the gift of a chocolate workshop for my birthday this year I was really excited as although I’ve eaten plenty of chocolate, I’ve never really worked with it. After three hours with Lisa at The Chocolate Tart I am hardly an expert, but I had a great time and learned to appreciate chocolate for more than just its taste.

Brunch at Souk Kitchen, Southville

I’ve always enjoyed going out for breakfast or brunch. It’s so far from my usual bowl of cereal that it feels like a real treat, often more so than going out for an evening meal. In recent years going for brunch seems to have become increasingly popular (blames us millennials and our love of avocado) and as a result there are all sorts of different places that you can go which are open for breakfast. However, as much as I enjoy it sometimes the menus do get a little repetitive and so it’s nice to have something a little different, which is exactly what Souk Kitchen offers.

Dinner at The Ivy Clifton Brasserie

There are certain restaurants that everyone seems to have heard of, regarding of whether or not you ever have any intention of going there. For me, The Ivy is one of those places. I’ve never been to the famous London restaurant and yet the name evokes images of classic glamour, sophistication and very expensive food. What I hadn’t realised was that The Ivy Collection brings The Ivy experience to a selection of brasseries and cafes around the UK – or I hadn’t until I went to The Ivy Clifton Brasserie. Initially I was put off going by assumptions I made about the price and atmosphere but having been once I have no doubt I will return, either to the Clifton Brasserie or to one of the others in the collection.

Koh Thai Tapas, Bristol

When looking for somewhere to eat in Bristol I am spoiled for choice. There are a mixture of independent restaurants and chains, but even those belonging to chains I am often unfamiliar with as they haven’t made it to Cumbria or York. As a result, I’ve been basing my choices on people’s recommendations (if you have any please do send them my way). I had heard several things about Koh Thai Tapas and it was close to a few bars that our group wanted to go to so it seemed like a good decision.
